My Method: Running Log July 1, 2008

Posted by Joe Thorn in : log , trackback

Tuesday Afternoon / 80° / 3.1 miles

Had a long, busy day at work, and had to squeeze in a run in between meetings. Just a 5k today, no watch, ran it at a good pace and it felt great. I was asked about my running journal and thought I would share what I’m doing.

I was using Running Ahead last year, but was also writing everything down in a Moleskine journal as well. I like real life book, paper and pencils. After a while the online record keeping just didn’t appeal to me. I have been experimenting with different journals and methods, but at the moment I use a Moleskine Cashier’s Journal. Recorded at the top of the page I list date, weather, distance and time. Below that I record further details of the run, thoughts, plans and more in paragraph form. I am finishing up the year with this method, and will probably switch to a hardcover pocket notebook by Moleskine.

I love the picture. I too strongly prefer the hands-on, paper and pencil (pen in my case) approach.

How do you like the Cashier’s (or is it Cahier’s) Journals? I’m an avid Moleskine guy, but have not been impressed with these little guys.

I like them a lot, and use them as my regular GTD(ish) hacked list organizer.
